Hai Cikgu!

Hello. :)

As I am writing this, it was at twilight in the third week of me being a teacher. A substitute teacher. I was so delighted when I got the call for the job interview - it was unexpected and out of my field. Somehow, I was pretty much scared but at the same time excited to be back in school. I'd do it anyway. Bracing my unemployed self.

In the first week, I'd say that the feeling is like being a shiny new toy. You're the attraction and every child that came passing by you try to look at your upper side of the left chest just to have a glance of your nametag. How I wish I was a lot taller then haha

The awkwardness was so to the maximum level on the very first day.
What am I supposed to say?
How should I handle them?
What should I do to make them listen or at least be quiet or a little less noisy?

I stand confidently in front of 16 - 29 children each day but only Allah knows how nervous I am and how little I felt being around the children. I need to teach from standard one to five - multiple subjects. They called it as "subjek lelong". Being someone with least working experience who would take anything to be swallowed made me humbly accepting the work. It is only for these precious months - July, August, and September.

It wasn't difficult to teach. It just not as easy as it seems.
Ever heard of "mengajar itu berlainan daripada mendidik?" and education world nowadays let the teachers be "pemudah cara". The proverb "TEACHERS OPEN THE DOOR BUT YOU MUST ENTER BY YOURSELF" is applied up to this second.

Frankly, everybody can teach but not everyone can touch the children's heart.
