Road to Graduation/Convocation (IIUM version)

Things to do before convocation - IIUM convocation.

1. Clearance

Once your status changed to "GRADUATED" from "ACTIVE", you can simply settle the clearance with a phone call. Check the status here.

I-ma'luum > click your photo/name > profile > you'll see the status [GRADUATED] or [ACTIVE]
You cannot do the clearance if your status is still ACTIVE.

a) My service > SCS [Student Clearance System]
b) My service > iGrad (application for graduation)
These are two things to be done.

  • Finance - the first thing to be settled. Saman, yuran dan sebagainya hendaklah dilangsaikan. This can be settled after you've finished your study that final semester; before going back for good. 
  • Library - boleh walk-in dan boleh call. 
  • Mahallah - the last one to call. This is also can be done during checking out and return key.
  • Security - usually saman je la kot.

2. Transcript Collection 

There are two transcripts which I recommend to collect soon as your name is endorsed by the Senate. First is the ACADEMIC transcript and the optional one is STUDENT ACTIVITIES transcript. The latter also has the CGPA based on your participation in co-curriculum activities. These are the supporting documents when you're applying for a job later.  

ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT 
  • Can be collected on your own at Academic Affairs Dept, OCD. 
  • Can also be collected on behalf by an authorized person.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES TRANSCRIPT 
  • Can be collected on your own at Student Development Dept, OSC. 
  • Can also be collected on behalf by an authorized person.
You need to give your details to the staff prior to collection - usually, the process takes about a month plus. 

3. Convocation 

Unlike the universities abroad, IIUM gap of ending a degree and convocation is the longest as far as I know. For pharmacy program specifically (as I enrolled in), you'll be back for good from IIUM in June and the convocation will be held in November. It's four to five months apart. 

When everything is settled earlier, the process for convocation is easier. The things to check is the graduation list, the important dates and etc. 
You will need to complete two sets of questionnaire; MOHE and IIUM Tracer Study. 

Tracer Study is merely a survey about your plan after graduation and your honest feedback or satisfactory level for MOHE or IIUM to improve in future. After completion of these, print it and bring both of the slips during robe set collection including the robe collection form.

You can still be pretty without those new clothes.  You can mix and match your dress with all the scarfs you currently have, they're overloading the "shawl box".  You can always smile bright even if you forgot to put on your balm or lipstick.  You can see his moves eventho you misplaced your spectacles.  You can always be better even if you fail the quiz.  You don't need those new colour blouse.  You are beautiful outside and inside.  You are going to be fine. I mean what can go wrong when you have you yourself as lover? As a hugger? As a masseur? As everything you want la.  Those lies I tell when I needed to console myself. First Tri

You couldn’t tell yourself whether you’re happy or scared. Probably both at the same time. The only strength to hold on is prayers to Allah to make this journey at ease and bearable.  With husband not around, it is hard to adapt with the new body as you don’t have anybody to talk to about the queasiness, nausea and ache. But he is always there to support whenever you’re in need although virtually. ❤️  It feels better to voice out the feelings/sickness as if it let the burdens off at the moment tho the only relief is the passing time.  But this is our prayers and hopes that comes in reality to which we should never complain of.  At the moment it is figured out, I am completely speechless.
